These are nine mushrooms that I made out of tree limbs. They take a minimum of an hour a piece turning them and longer to finish sanding, painting, etc. Linda likes them. A new challenge that I enjoy. Gary

I used a new method to dry these newly turned wet wood bowls.   I used a COSTCO dehydrator for 10 hours at 130 degrees.  Worked very good.  Otherwise I would have had to wait 4 months to finish turn them to allow natural drying.

Gary made two new vases and a walnut bowl.  One vase is made from apricot wood (highly figured) and the other painted with three paints.

I recently finished turning these 4 Heavenly Angels from plan by Nick Cook in AAW Turning Holiday Ornaments project book. Linda painted them.  They were a challenge to turn because  I needed to use a small chisel on the lathe because it was held onto the lathe by the skirt of the angel alone.  Gary Bingham

New Type Painting of Bowls
I just finished these three bowls with the specific purpose of doing a unusual decoration and painting.  I dripped acrylic paint on shaving cream and rolled the  bowls on the cream.  After the paint had briefly dried, I washed off the shaving cream.  This did not work out as well as I saw it in YouTube.  Also, I was suppose to do this process on wood that had not been hollowed.  Unfortunately the wood cracked.  I filled the cracks with a combination acrylic paint and epoxy.  Linda likes them and I do not.  So much for new techniques.

I just finished turning, sanding, painting these three bowls. The two in the back are made of silver maple using milk paint to color them. The one in front is box elder. Gary

Three new small bowls, wire brushed with mustard milk paint (cherry, acacia, maple).  I misspelled cherry on the bottom of that bowl as cheery and left it that way.  Gary

Acquired this piece of ornate wood at our recent wood turner's group picnic.  Linda wants it to use to decorate with.  On the flat parts only, I sanded it, painted it with sanding sealer.  I then used steel wool, followed by liquid wax.

I worked hard on this piece and it cracked. I will wait a few months for more drying and return it on the lathe.  Gary

Inspired by youtube to make this large piece.  Took 5 1/2 hours of effort.  Hope it does not crack.  Gary

I hand carved the three legs on the maple bowl.  Different for me.  The Allanthus bowl has interesting features.  Gary
