The bowl is made from American Maple wood.  It is 9 inches by 7 inches.  The wood was like steel to cut and I had thrown it into the garbage twice and each time retrieved it.  Linda for some reason wanted it and liked it.  The platter stand was made from a picture I saw in the American Wood Turners magazine, February issue.  It works.

I made two finials to go on top of Linda’s lamp. One ended up being too large and now is an ornament onto itself. The smaller one is now in use. Linda did a very good job of painting the latter one. She combined colors. The lamp shade is very important to Linda that goes with this finial. linda’s Brother now deceased make the lamp shade. He also was a very talented artist that worked with many mediums.

These are two bowls I just made from dry wood.  Working with dry wood takes a lot longer to turn then from wet wood (newly cut tree).  The one with the thin rim is made from locust wood.  The locust bowl is 7 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches and the other bowl is 9 inches by 4 1/2 inches.

This is a 7 1/4 inch by 1 1/2 inch bowl that Linda had me stain yellow.  She is using it in her sewing room to store sewing material.  February 2016

This is a canister I just made in January 2016.   It is 6 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches.  

New Bench Grinder and Elm Bowl

I  bought a new 8 inch Bench Grinder which is especially made for wood turning.  It turns at a slower speed : 1725 and has special Norton Wheels for better sharpening of my chisels.  The bowl is made of elm and is 2 inches by 8 inches and is intended to be given away as a gift.
