Linda and I competed some of our work in the Solano County Fair. Linda was awarded two second place ribbons and one best of division ribbon. Her and I had worked on the three Faberge eggs and we received a second place ribbon for that entry. I really did not see any other wood work submitted for this fair. The Bottle Toppers are a project I just finished. There are six of them and I turned them from various colors of laminated wood. They are fun to look at and I think they will make Christmas presents.

linda and I corroborated on this very nice bowl which I think is museum quality. It is a 10 1/2 by 1 3/4 inch figured maple bowl which I turned and Linda decorated. She painted in the natural lines of the bowl. These pictures were also taken on our new living room rug which was delivered today. She chose the colors to go along with the color of the rug, I had to use special spray to make sure the paints did not run. It is called “fixative”. It worked.

Gary Bingham I made 5 wine stoppers and also the bases for the stoppers to be stored in. The bases were the most challenging to make. The bases are different types of wood glued together and turned. Linda's plate is a piece of maple which Linda hand drew the writing in and I burned into the wood. The plate is 7 1/2 wide. The stoppers are made from bocote, bubinga, paduak, zebrawood and cocobola woods.

Yesterday I received a new 3m Versaflo M300 respirator. For years I have been inhaling wood sanding,
dust while preparing pieces of wood on my lathe and other wood projects I would
make. This is a self-contained
respirator with a very good 3m filter. I
tried it on yesterday and it is terrific.
My glasses do not steam when I wear it and it should be a pleasure to
wear while doing my wood projects.
