Linda and I collaborated on these two pottery pieces.  She made the pottery, sprayed the glitter on them.  I made the two finials on the lathe.

I made this bowl yesterday for Walt, a local golf organizer for our community.  Walnut oil finish.

October 2014
I made two canisters and three mushrooms.  Linda wanted the fancy top on the one canister.

This is a bowl that has been cut in half and re-glued together. It is a collaborative effort by Linda and Gary. Linda selected and glued the very nice buttons on the bowl and colors of paint to match our kitchen.

I bought this Detroit police super seer riot motorcycle helmet with face shield to protect my face when turning unstable or large pieces of wood.  I did this based on Lynne Yamaguchi's recent articile on the American Woodturner entitled "Safety Matters".  Lynne has damaged all of the bones in the left side of her face and had four titanium plates installed to reconstruct her face.  Her iris ruptured and and her pupil is permanently blown resulting in no central vision in her left eye.  She took off her face mask to answer a telephone and resumed wood turning without it on.

Walnut Vase May 2014

This is a Walnut vase  I made in May 2014.  The brown, black spots are part of the tree.  I did not add it in.  Hollowing is very time consuming and labor intensive.

I attended a new wood turners group meeting called the Bay Area Wood Turners (Pleasant Hill) yesterday.  They had a all day session with one of the world’s best wood turners, artists making demonstrations (David Ellsworth).  He demonstrated a bowl, hollow form.  I have his book, DVD and had attended a previous class he gave to my old wood turning group, the Inland Wood Turners.  I joined the Bay Area Wood Turners group (they have frequent demonstrations) and now will be attending two different group meetings each month.

The picture is a selfy with David Ellsworth.
